The Solid Waste Management Association of the Larisa regional unit applied for environmental permits concerning the Green Points of Agia, Kileler, Tempi, Tyrnavos and Farsala municipalities while an environmental permit application for the municipality of Elassona’s Green Point is expected soon.

The aforementioned municipalities’ s local plans, the regional waste management plan of Thessaly, and the NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework) 2014-2020 had foreseen the creation of these 6 Green Points that form a single operating network with the Central Green Point located at the Larisa municipality (also expected to follow the same course).

Green Points provide an organized space where citizens can bring recyclables, bulky waste (eg furniture, electrical and electronic equipment), small hazardous waste (such as batteries, edible oils and fats, etc.), green waste and other types of waste. The basic purpose of the Green Points is the source separation of waste into different materials in order to reuse and recycle and thus reduce the management cost of mixed waste (transport, processing, landfilling).

EPTA Consultants Environmental Engineers is involved in the contractor agreement and coordinates the integrated study, which apart from the environmental licensing includes the preparation of final designs and tender documents for construction. According to schedule, the third quarter of 2017 the 6 Green Points are expected to be ready for funding and then to be auctioned.
