The Region of Epirus under the Peripheral Solid Waste Management Plan, following the commencement of construction of the solid waste treatment plant of Epirus Region through PPP, goes ahead with the construction of the accompanying works of 8 Waste Transfer Stations in Epirus.
The project includes Waste Transfer Stations for Ioannina, Zitsa, Pogoni, Metsovo, Arta, Karaiskaki, Igoumenitsa, as well as the supply of equipment for the modernization of the Waste Transfer Station of Preveza. The 8 Waste Transfer Stations of Epirus will serve their respective Municipalities in order to transfer the residual mixed waste in an economically optimal way to the solid waste treatment plant of Epirus for processing and treatment. The residues, after treatment, will be disposed to the sanitary landfills of the Epirus Region.
The aforementioned Waste Transfer Stations are included in the NSRF 2014-2020. The supply of equipment (vehicles, containers) as well as the construction works for the majority of the Waste Transfer Stations have been auctioned. According to the timetable construction is set to begin within 2018.
EPTA Environmental Consultants and Engineers, took over as the Technical Advisor for the project in the context of its inclusion in NSRF 2014-2020 to ensure that the project will be executed in accordance with the approved economic and physical scope and within the timetable.
