Having approved funding, studies and the approval for the eartworks, the construction of the solid waste treatment plant of Thiva perfecture has begun.
The owner of the project (The Regional Solid Waste Management Authority of Sterea Ellada S.A.) will acquire in the next months a modern waste management project which aims to recover materials (paper, plastic, metal, glass), energy (from anaerobic digestion of waste) and compost both for soil rehabilitation and for agricultural use.
The budget of the project amounts to 16.5 million euros and is funded by the NSRF 2014-2020. The plant will have capacity of 32.000 tn/year municipal solid waste, 1.850 tn/year biowaste and 7.000 tn/year sewage sludge. With its construction and operation, over 150 new jobs are expected to be created.
EPTA Environmental Consultants and Engineers S.A., as leader of a consortium, has successfully undertaken the development of the project and its inclusion in the NSRF 2014-2020.
