The Municipality of Farsala in the southern Thessaly Prefecture has embarked on a programme to conduct an extensive upgrade for the street lighting within the sections of its territory.
The Municipality has successfully developed the techno-economic design of the project, which will be financed with attractive rates by the Deposit and Loans Fund.
The project includes a considerable refurbishment of the street lighting system by replacing 2.066 existing luminaires with state-of-the-art Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology. In this way, the street lighting in the Municipality region will be upgraded to be in line with European safety standards, while specific under-illuminated areas will have a more powerful and better distributed light at the same time.
Annual savings, due to reduced electric consumption, are expected to surpass 50%. An extra 10% can be considered by the implementation of adaptive lighting control and monitoring of the new LED luminaires by dimming them during specific time intervals. The accomplished feasibility study issues that the expected annual savings will not only be sufficient for loan payments, but also will produce Municipal revenues.
EPTA S.A. has technically supported the Municipality throughout all phases of design and development of the Project.
