EPTA has recently been selected as the technical advisor of the City of Patras, through its Municipal Development Enterprise ADEP SA, for the implementation of the PLUS programme, which is funded under INTERREG IVC. The project, which began in October 2010, capitalizes on existing urban lighting best practices in European cities. The project aims to help cities develop their lighting policies and strategies in order to implement energy efficient lighting solutions. In order to facilitate the exchange of good practices, the Deep Dive Methodology is used. The latter is a diagnostic tool combing well-known methods e.g. peer review and includes steps like self-assessment of the public lighting strategies of the participating cities, the assessment of the efficiency of this policy, as well as the visiting of experts to discuss the problems from implementing such policies. Coordinator of the project is the City of Eindhoven, while apart from Patras, the following European Cities also participate: Nice (France), Lyon (France), Bassano del Grappa (Italy), Tallinn (Esthonia), Sofia (Bulgaria), Birmingham (UK), Iasi (Romania), Burgos (Spain) and Leipzig (Germany). Another partner is the LUCY Association (Lighting Urban Community International), which is LUCI (Lighting Urban Community International), is an international network bringing together cities and lighting professionals engaged in using light as a major tool for urban, social and economic development.
