The Region of North Aegean, EPTA SA, the National Technical University, the Cyprus Hotel Association, Hotels Aeolian Village and Mayfair invite you to the “International Conference on the promotion of sustainability and energy efficiency in the Tourism Sector”, which will be held on Monday, December 10th, 2012 in Macedonia Hall of Divani Hotel in Athens, Greece.
The conference aims to highlight the environmental character of tourism activities through the promotion of efficient technologies and good practices, focusing specifically on the impact of tourist accommodation facilities operation to climate change and the related effort to reduce their carbon footprint. Furthermore, it intends to trigger the interest of tourism enteprises to design and implement systems to control and reduce energy consumption, manage water use and waste produced while promoting the use of renewable energy sources. EPTA will present guidelines to reduce and offset carbon emissions in tourist accommodation facilities with a special focus on energy management.
The conference is organized in the framework of the CARBONTOUR project (http://uest.ntua.gr/carbontour/), which is funded by the LIFE + instrument of the European Commission.
