C-TRACK 50, a project funded by the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Union, is supporting the EU long term targets for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, by mobilizing and guiding public authorities in defining long-term energy policy priorities, and supporting regional and local authorities in developing, financing and implementing ambitious integrated sustainable energy and climate policy action plans in order to achieve climate resilience and carbon neutrality by 2050.
The second roundtable, organised for local authorities supported by C-Track 50, was successfully held in Athens at the National Technical University of Athens on the 27th of June 2019. Apart from presenting progress to date and planned C-Track 50 activities, emphasis was given on discussing with participants policy priorities at the local and regional level for 2050. In addition to this, challenges in local long-term planning were discussed, whilst 1-2 priority projects were identified per municipality, so that these can be actively pursued, through the development of funding proposals, with the support of the project.
Partners from 11 different EU countries participate in C-TRACK 50. Associated beneficiaries from Greece include the National Technical University of Athens as Project Coordinator (www.epu.ntua.gr) and the technical partner EPTA SA (www.epta.gr).
