ee_148EcoDesign is a new concept aiming at reducing energy consumption by products such as household electrical appliances. Information concerning the product's environmental performance and energy efficiency must be visible if possible on the product itself, thus allowing consumers to compare before purchasing. Directive 2005/32/EC on ecodesign of energy using products (EuP), established a framework for the setting of ecodesign requirements for energy-using products. The aim of this study contract was to bring together and complement available information and arguments as to which product (groups) should be included among the indicative priorities and to give the opportunity for an early input from, and awareness raising of, all relevant stakeholders. The aforementioned product list, must not comprise products that are covered by the the preparatory studies (pdf). Click here to visit the web site of Directorate-General for Energy and Transport and read more about the preparatory studies and Eco-design of Energy-Using Products.
